Task

You will be asked to analyze 1 of the 3 artworks that will be discussed in class. This will help you learn the meaning of the artists’ intention, and gain a better understanding of the Feminist Art Movement. For the final assessment, you will get into groups to create a virtual museum exhibit. You will have to provide information about:
  • What is significant about the piece (ILS-25.B.2, 27.A.3b, 27.B.4b)
  • The message behind it (What is the artwork trying to say? What does the artist want us to know?) (ILS-27.A.4b, 27.B.3, 27.B.5)
  • The analysis of the piece (elements or principles used by the artist and how they are used to reinforce the theme, meaning, mood, or feelings of the artwork) (ILS-25.B.2, 27.A.4b, 27.B.5)
  • Brief biography about the artist. Make sure to also include the stereotypes that these women artist were exposing and rejecting in their art works. (ILS-25.B.4, 27.A.3b, 27.B.3, 27.B.4b, 27.B.5)

Have you ever gone to a museum and read the information that goes along with what you are looking at? This is your chance to create that information to display to others about the piece of artwork that your group has chosen to research. The school has asked you to curate a museum exhibition on the Feminist Art Movement. You all get to be researchers and museum curators for the day!
